The first female African-American tenured professor at Clemson has died. Dr. Margaree Seawright Crosby died on November 8. She was 82. Dr. Crosby was one of the so-called Greenville 8 civil rights activists who demanded social change in 1960. What was their crime? They dared to read books in the white-only section of the public library.

A hitman has been sentenced to prison after a jury found him guilty of attempting to kill a Greenville attorney.
Travis Douglass was found guilty of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime on Thursday. A judge sentenced him to 30 years in prison.
