Table Rock Reopens Next Week

Table Rock State Park is set to reopen next week with some limitations.  

Lakeside Trail will open Monday, April 7, according to park officials. Other trails will reopen as they are evaluated and cleared for safety. A wildfire that began on March 21 and burned more than 15,000 acres, forced the park to close.

South Carolina Forestry Commission agents arrested four teens on Tuesday suspected of setting the fire that spread to Persimmon Ridge.  

Both sides of the Table Rock Complex fires are close to containment, according to the commission. The fire on Table Rock is at 91% containment while the fire on Persimmon Ridge is near 99% containment.  

Park officials said wi-fi may not function within the park because of damage to fiber optic lines during wildfire suppression efforts.  

The Forestry Commission enacted the bans on March 20 and lifted the ban for 41 other counties on Monday.
