Rodney Atkins Has a Knack

Updated: Dec 19, 2024

Early exposure makes a difference.

Little do parents and grandparents know that teaching young ones to cook early can have long-range benefits.

For example, when Rodney Atkins, a restauranteur and businessman, thinks about how he got where he is now, he has to acknowledge his early start in the kitchen.

Although Atkins started by running Cora’s Nightclub and the End Zone for about eight years, he eventually decided to operate Fhinney’s Buffet.

Atkins also started what is today Bosco’s Baby’s Restaurant, but he sold it to the current owner.

Restless, Atkins just opened a new buffet in Easley near Walmart. JRocks Country Kitchen and Catering is at 1020 Powdersville Rd, Easley. Hours are from 10 am until 6 pm.

The restaurant on Easley Bridge Road and Washington is a haunt for many locals. It now serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Allison & Robinson

Atkins's daughter, Allison, manages the Easley Bridge location.  A number of his other daughters also work there.

Coach Jaylan Robinson, waits tables and serves up plenty of sparkling personality and old sports stories to entertain diners.

In fact. Robinson was recently inducted into the Piedmont Athletic Hall of Fame.

Atkins adheres to an old-school dictum and allows for no waste.  So, about 6 pm, a cadre of homeless men and women gather near the entrance for hot food.  Yes, Atkins daily feeds the homeless.

That’s why the Marines plan to partner with Atkins on January 4 from 2-6 pm for a special dinner for the homeless. It will be served at his location on Easley Bridge Rd.
