Kool and the Gang to headline Anderson Music Festival, tickets go on sale today

For the past 26 years, "Celebrate Anderson" has been a free concert and fireworks show at the William A. Floyd Amphitheater in Anderson on Labor Day Weekend.

Celebrate Anderson is a local tradition that brings together residents and visitors for a day of music, fun, and community spirit. National touring artists Kool and the Gang will headline this year's festival on Sunday, August 31.

"We are thrilled to welcome Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, Kool and the Gang, to Anderson County," said Anderson County Administrator Rusty Burns. "As the hitmakers who have given the world the song 'Celebration,' they are the perfect fit for our Celebrate Anderson Festival.

"Fans can expect a big show with world-class performers who know how to bring just the right ‘Summer Madness’ to Anderson County," he said. 

The concert gates will open at 5:30 p.m., and the festivities will begin with a local artist who will set the tone for the evening. 

Attendees can look forward to a full day of events, which are set to be announced in May. 

"Last year's event had over 10,000 tickets claimed," Katherine Garcia, Managing Partner of Ready Room Collective. "More than 20% of tickets were purchased by fans visiting from outside the market and even outside the state.

"This year, an 11,000 fan turnout is expected. "However, we're preparing for a larger crowd and an unforgettable experience for all attendees," she said.

The concert is free but does require a ticket to enter.

You can secure your ticket beginning Friday, April 4, starting at 10:00 a.m. at www.andersonevents.com.

Lawn tickets are available for fans who wish to bring blankets and chairs to set up on the lawn. 

Standing-room-only tickets are for those who want to dance up close to the stage, where chairs are not permitted.

Organizers expect the event to reach capacity and encourage fans to get tickets early.

What to know about food and beverage options

Fans can look forward to enjoying local food truck favorites and offerings from the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center concessionaire. 

Please note that no food or drinks will be allowed inside the venue. 

Garcia said non-alcoholic Coca-Cola options will be readily available alongside a variety of alcoholic beverages for fans over 21.

What to know about Kool and the Gang

Kool and the Gang was officially launched in 1969. 

The band is known for its unique jazz, R&B, soul, and funk blend. 

With iconic songs like "Celebration," "Jungle Boogie," and "Get Down On It," the band has captivated audiences for decades. 

Kool & the Gang's newest single, "Let's Party," was released in 2022. 

Their impressive accolades include two Grammy Awards, seven American Music Awards, and numerous gold and platinum albums.
