Carolina High School basketball girls and boys teams fell to Berea Thursday night. Both squads fought valiantly but in vain.
The final score for the Lady Trojans verses the Lady Berea Bulldogs was 41/36.
The boy bulldogs won 70-43 over the Trojans.
The final does not tell the whole story. Berea was too strong for the Trojans, both girls and boys teams. But the season is fresh, and there is time for both teams to grow, and increase their skills and coaching and get taller.
Both coaches can adjust their starting five and tweak vital adjustments as the season progresses.
I talked with one 41-year-old father, Ian Rollison, who brought his 15-year-old son, Jarell, to the game at the Betty G. Moore Gymnasium.
Jarell is not terribly athletic, but he maintains a 4.0 grade average in class. Ian was happy to finally return to the high school gym for a game. It was his first time back to the high school since he graduated.
He is also pleased that his son is a brainiac and an ambassador on the student body council.
